Core concepts
The vocabulary the rest of the docs assume — Sites, Interview Agents, Sessions, Insights, Briefings, and Usage.
Seena's dashboard and docs use a handful of terms consistently. This page defines them in plain language so the rest of the documentation makes sense at a glance.
Sites
A site is an installation point — typically one production web property where the Seena widget runs. Prototypes created by tools like Replit, Lovable, and Figma Make/ Sites fall under this category. Native mobile apps will be a separate kind of site in the near future; for now, all sites are web.
Interview Agents
An interview agent is an AI moderator that runs conversations with your users. There are two types:
- The general feedback agent — once activated, will be always visible on your site, and acts as a knowledgable interviewer to collect feedback from your users if they choose to engage with it. This feedback will be associated to the journey that user had taken to get them to the point of wanting to leave feedback. All of this serves as context that Seena analyses on your behalf and presenting it to you as distilled insights.
- Custom interview agents — each one has a specific topic (e.g. "why people abandon checkout"), a question script, and its own triggers. You create as many as you need and set the rules for when they appear.
Both types are governed by the same cooldown system so you never over-interview the same visitor. See Agent governance for the full rules.
Sessions
A session is one visitor's continuous time on your site — from first page to drop-off. Sessions exist whether or not an interview runs. They carry the events (pageviews, clicks, identifiers, custom tags) that interview agents key off of.
Interviews
An interview is a conversation between an agent and a visitor, attached to a session. Interviews have a transcript, that you can read. Seena does not record audio clips to preserve your customers' identity.
Insights
An insight is a single, attributable finding — a thing a user said or did, tied back to the session and interview it came from. Insights are the atomic unit of what Seena learns. Every insight has a source you can click into and hear in the user's own voice.
Briefings
A briefing is the daily or weekly roll-up. Briefings are what most of your team will actually read; insights are what you'll click into when a briefing makes you curious.
Usage
Usage is how Seena meters work. Running an interview, analyzing it, and generating insights all draw on your monthly usage. Usage is per-user, per-workspace — each member has their own balance, and balances in different workspaces are independent. New accounts come with starter usage on signup. See Usage and billing for plans and per-seat pricing.
